Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The distribution and pricing of Champions League final tickets is \u201cthe system that works\u201d as it aids clubs, Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin says.<\/p>\n

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp asked why almost half of the 75,000 tickets for the game against Real Madrid in Paris are given to sponsors and officials.<\/p>\n

Most Liverpool tickets are \u00a3125 or more and 93.5 per cent of revenue goes to the clubs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us, not much will change if all tickets are 10 euros but it will change a lot for the clubs,\u201d said Ceferin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the system that works, and clubs couldn\u2019t function differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liverpool will play Real Madrid at the Stade de France on May 28. Each club has received 19,618 tickets while a further 12,000 were put on general sale via a ballot, which closed before the semi-final second legs were played.<\/p>\n

More than one-fifth of Liverpool\u2019s allocation will cost between \u00a3410 and \u00a3578. But Ceferin argued that the system benefits clubs financially.<\/p>\n

\u201cI explained the same thing to one of the coaches of the two teams a couple of days ago and I can do it here,\u201d said Ceferin at the Uefa congress in Vienna.<\/p>\n

\u201cI explained it to him a bit more and took much more time because I went through every single number.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the revenues from the finals, Uefa gets 6.5 per cent and 93.5 per cent goes to the clubs. From the other matches, 100 per cent of the revenues goes to the clubs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFans of both teams get 20,000 tickets each. Sponsors that pay 100 or more million euros sponsorship \u2014 of which 93.5 per cent goes to the same clubs \u2014 get some tickets. It\u2019s part of a contractual obligation that we have.<\/p>\n

\u201cUefa doesn\u2019t get more tickets than the others. Some tickets go to the market, some tickets go to the fans and some go to the partners. It\u2019s not Uefa. I\u2019m not giving tickets for free to my friends or selling to my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ceferin added that any prospect of a European Super League \u201cis over\u201d, with Uefa having this week agreed a new \u2018Swiss-style\u2019 format for the Champions League from the 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n

Twelve of Europe\u2019s biggest clubs signed up for the proposed competition last April, only for the project to collapse within days following a backlash from players and fans, as well as governments and football\u2019s governing bodies.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus remain open to the concept, but Ceferin said: \u201cI don\u2019t like to call it Super League because it\u2019s everything but Super League.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, this project is over once and for all, or at least for 20 years. I don\u2019t know what will happen later.\u201d<\/p>\n
