Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency was alerted on Saturday May 7 that 11 elephants were roaming around Madadeni.<\/p>\n

It was believed that the elephants are from Mozambique and that they made their way to the Kingdom of eSwatini and eventually to Mpumalanga [South Africa].<\/p>\n

Since they entered Mpumalanga, a number of people have been following their journey and there has been an appeal to ensure their safe passage back to Mozambique.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe team of wildlife experts from the MTPA has been working tirelessly to ensure that these elephants are not a threat to human life and are taken back in a safe manner without endangering the lives of those around the surrounding communities,\u201d said the MTPA\u2019s senior manager of corporate communications, Kholofelo Nkambule. MTPA teams have been keeping a 24-hour surveillance on the animals since they were been discovered on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The elephants have been reported to be unharmed. The MTPA would like to appeal to community members not to resort to violence and provoke these elephants in any way, as this could result in their lives being endangered. \u201cWe appeal for the communities to work with our team of experts as we continue to monitor the situation on the ground and ensure the elephants\u2019 safe return,\u201d said Nkambule.<\/p>\n
