Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State in Inhambane, Ludmila Maguni, recently launched the MaCarteira programme. This programme will provide more than 3 500 school desks in the Govuro, Inhassoro and Vilankulo districts. This initiative by Sasol aims to end the practice of children sitting on the floor during the teaching and learning process in official educational establishments.<\/p>\n

With a duration of two years and an investment of around US$ 500 000, Sasol will furnish all conventional schools with school desks for the students and desks for teachers.<\/p>\n

Under the scope of the Local Content Plan, all the school desks of this project will be produced by artisans from Inhambane province.<\/p>\n

According to the Secretary of State in Inhambane, Sasol\u2019s project will contribute significantly to reduce the number of children who study sitting on the floor, in Inhambane Province. \u201cI would like to thank Sasol, very much, for their support, because with this intervention alone, we have already reduced the number of children sitting on the floor across our province by 14%,\u201d Ludmila Maguni said at the launch which took place on April 5.<\/p>\n

In his intervention, Sasol\u2019s Country Manager, Ov\u00eddio Rodolfo, said that this initiative goes beyond the social responsibility of the extractive industry, which defines a 50km radius of action. According to him, Sasol intends to stimulate the formation of a common value chain that allows the integrated development of the three districts.<\/p>\n
