Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s Parliamentary Speaker [President of the Assembly of the Republic] Esperan\u00e7a Bias this Tuesday meets in Maputo her Russian counterpart, the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly (the upper house of parliament) of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, who is on an official to the country visit from 30 May to 1 June.<\/p>\n

A note from the Assembly of the Republic received by \u2018Not\u00edcias\u2019 states that Bias and Matviyenko will hold talks that will culminate in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parliaments.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a communique by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation posted by the Russian Embassy in Mozambique on its official Facebook and Twitter pages reports that \u201cthe Federation Council delegation led by Chairperson Valentina Matvienko will visit the Republic of Mozambique from 30 May to 1 June\u201d and that \u201cmeetings with the leadership of the Republic of Mozambique are scheduled\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to the same source, the visit program includes the meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Esperan\u00e7a Bias, and the signing of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agreement between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The Russian delegation comprises: Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Grigory Karasin, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs; Andrey Kutepov, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy; Andrey Shevchenko, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs; Alexander Varfolomeev, First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy; Irina Rukavishnikova, First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building; Yuri Valyaev, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security; Mukarby Ulbashev, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on the Budget and Financial Markets; and Liudmila Skakovskaya, Member of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture.<\/p>\n
