Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambican police have detained the principal of a primary school in Niassa on suspicion of being the leader of an armed group of robbers in the province, a source from the corporation announced this Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The principal of the Escola Prim\u00e1ria Completa de Hamela, Mitande administrative post, in Mandimba district, was arrested along with two other alleged members of the group. They were found in possession of an AK47 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition, spokesperson for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Niassa, Mirza Maguanda, said.<\/p>\n

According to the police, the group led by the school principal carried out robberies on May 22 and 26 in two administrative posts in Mandimba.<\/p>\n

The school principal confessed to the crime, or \u201cmissions\u201d as he called them, and offered to help the police locate the other members of the gang. He also named the alleged leaders of another group of robbers in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am trying to help the police to locate the others so that this situation ends once and for all. I am very sorry,\u201d the detainee said when he was publicly presented to the press by the police.<\/p>\n
