Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Two people have recently died in crocodile attacks in Mahelane, Namaacha district, Maputo province.<\/p>\n

The victims were attacked by the reptiles on the banks of the Umbeluzi River, where they had their \u2018machambas\u2019 [vegetable gardens].<\/p>\n

Mahelane \u2018Chefe de Localidade\u2019 Em\u00edlia Mondlane said that, in addition to injuring and killing people, crocodiles were responsible for the death of cattle and goats in the area.<\/p>\n

Em\u00edlia Mondlane further reported that one of the crocodiles, which had terrorised the villages of Mahelane, Michangulene and Mafavuque, was recently killed by volunteer hunters.<\/p>\n
