Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Cabo Delgado a few days ago provisionally confirmed the reopening of National Road 380 (N380) between Sunate (aka Silva Macua ) in Ancuabe district and Oasse [aka Awasse] in Moc\u00edmboa da Praia after being closed about three years as a result of Cyclone Kenneth and terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the recent movement of criminals in areas crossed by the highway, I would like to point out that traffic on the N380 is conditional on escort by the Defence and Security Forces,\u201d police spokesperson M\u00e1rio Adolfo stressed.<\/p>\n

A \u2018Not\u00edcias\u2019 reporter who recently visited Mueda, Muidumbe and Nangade districts using the N380 saw trucks loaded with various goods en route from Pemba and Nampula, towards the north of Cabo Delgado province.<\/p>\n

The construction of a battery of viaducts across the Messalo River in Macomia district, a replacement to the bridge washed away by the Cyclone Kenneth rains in 2019, is facilitating the flow of traffic.<\/p>\n

As for the condition of the road platform, we verified on site the need for maintenance on the road, interrupted for about three years, including filling potholes and cutting the grass verges.<\/p>\n

In terms of safety, in addition to the FDS personnel escorting vehicles, other units were deployed along the section.<\/p>\n

The N380 is one of the main roads connecting the north and centre of Cabo Delgado with the rest of the province and the country.<\/p>\n

During the approximately three years in which the road traffic was cut by the destruction of some road infrastructure in the vicinity of the Messalo river, and due to the insecurity resulting from attacks by groups terrorists, communication between the north and centre of Cabo Delgado with the rest of the province and the country was maintained solely via the R798, which connects the districts of Montepuez and Mueda.<\/p>\n
