Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Nampula Central Hospital (HCN) has banned plastic bags after repeatedly experiencing blockages in toilets on the wards caused by the disposal of non-recyclable objects.<\/p>\n

Among the objects in question, plastic bags and disposable diapers disposed of by patients and their companions stand out.<\/p>\n

The deputy director of the HCN\u2019s Emergency Services, Em\u00eddio Lino, explained that the ban would hopefully put an end to problems with the plumbing and help improve the environment.<\/p>\n

The measure also extends to hospital employees.<\/p>\n

Lino has asked for the understanding and cooperation of the unit\u2019s users, encouraging the use of woven baskets or cloth bags to bring meals in for hospital patients.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, from the 22nd to the 30th of May, the HCN treated victims of 102 of road accidents, 19 of which remained hospitalised, plus 77 victims of physical aggression and 10 people bitten by scorpions.<\/p>\n
