Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>An extradition treaty signed last week between Mozambique and Rwanda has raised fears among Rwandan political refugees living in the southern Africa country.<\/p>\n

The deal was signed by the justice ministers of the two countries in Rwanda\u2019s capital, Kigali.<\/p>\n

Approximately 3,000 Rwandan refugees are living in Mozambique, according to the authorities here.<\/p>\n

Those who fled from Rwanda for political reasons fear that the treaty would be used to legitimise their forced repatriation.<\/p>\n

They requested not to be identified or comment further on the treaty.<\/p>\n

In September 2021, Rwandan businessman Revocant Karemangingo was shot dead in Mozambique\u2019s capital, Maputo, under unclear circumstances.<\/p>\n

He was a prominent critic of Rwandan President Paul Kagame.<\/p>\n
