Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique on Wednesday received from Brazil 18,300 ampoules of intravenous Azithromycin, which is used in the treatment of Covid-19.<\/p>\n

The donation, formally received by Minister of Health Armindo Tiago from the Brazilian ambassador, Carlos Alfonso Iglesias, comes as the Covid-19 pandemic in Mozambique is worsening.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to once again reiterate my gratitude to the Brazilian people and Government who, even though their own country is also being ravaged by Covid-19, are helping Mozambique with these important drugs for the treatment and recovery of patients affected by Covid -19,\u201d Minister Tiago said.<\/p>\n

The minister described the current pandemic situation in the country as \u201cworsening\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation is worsening,\u201d he warned. \u201cThere is, therefore, a great need to take to heart the prevention measures laid down in the Presidential Decree on the Situation of Public Calamity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Armindo Tiago said that Mozambique had on Tuesday (July 6) posted a new high in the number of people reported as infected by the new coronavirus, with 1,458 people testing positive, according to Ministry of Health figures.<\/p>\n

The positivity rate nationally was 31.7%, while the accumulated (historical) positivity rate was 13.3%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
