{"id":21173,"date":"2022-06-14T14:59:06","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T14:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\/all-news\/imopetro-seeks-new-fuel-supplier"},"modified":"2022-06-14T14:59:06","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T14:59:06","slug":"imopetro-seeks-new-fuel-supplier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\/all-news\/imopetro-seeks-new-fuel-supplier","title":{"rendered":"IMOPETRO seeks new fuel supplier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Importadora Mo\u00e7ambicana de Petr\u00f3leos de Mo\u00e7ambique (IMOPETRO) has just launched a public tender for a new fuel supplier to the country covering the three months, September to November.<\/p>\n<p>For this purpose, IMOPETRO has scheduled for this week the opening of proposals in order to determine pre-qualified companies and evaluate the technical and financial requirements proposed by the competing companies.<\/p>\n<p>According to IMOPETRO Director General Jo\u00e3o Macandja, the tender is governed by international procedures and rules similar to those specified in the World Bank guidelines, namely Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe selection criterion for the next entity responsible for importing fuel will be the best price, safety and reliability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Macandja said that Mozambique would import 575,000 metric tons of fuel to meet the country\u2019s needs over the three-month period in question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe intend to import 150,000 tons of gasoline, 400,000 of diesel, and 25,000 of gas. These refined petroleum products will be distributed from the ports of Maputo, Beira, Nacala and Pemba,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Macandja remarked that all liquid fuel on sale in Mozambique (diesel, gasoline and jet fuel), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG \u2013 cooking gas), is imported by sea in dedicated freighters.<\/p>\n<p>The process is by law centralised in a single entity, IMOPETRO, which is owned by the distributors of petroleum products operating in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContrary to what has happened in other tenders, in which the country imports enough fuel to supply the market for six months, the new contract provides for the acquisition of petroleum products that cover national needs for three months,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\">Mozambique<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Mozambique.
