Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique has a vast potential of mineral resources, whose sustainable exploitation can contribute to the generation of income and more jobs and consequently to the economic and social development of our country.<\/p>\n

The statement was presented today, in Maputo, by the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, when swearing in three new leaders in the oil and mining sector: Naz\u00e1rio Balangane, sworn in as Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the National Petroleum Institute (INP); Xavier F\u00e9lix Daudi, for the position of director-general of the National Institute of Mines (INAMI); and Gr\u00e1cio Ros\u00e1rio Cune, Deputy Director General of the National Institute of Mines.<\/p>\n

Maleiane recommended to the newly sworn in chairman of the INIP that, as a regulatory entity, it should seek to invest in innovative initiatives to face the structural challenges that arise in prospecting, exploration, policies and regulation of hydrocarbon exploration and production operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe INP must improve the inspection mechanisms of the gas exploration and production projects that are in progress and those that will be approved in order to ensure that they fully comply with their Local Content plans,\u201d he underlined.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister further explained that the Government created INAMI with the objective of ensuring the norms and guidelines regarding the participation of the public and private sector in the research, exploration, treatment, export and import of mining products and their derivatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this context, we hope that INAMI will continue to guide the increase and optimization of mining production in a sustainable way, including adding value to mineral resources produced in the national market; and develop the use of efficient technology that ensures the protection and preservation of the environment,\u201d he highlighted.<\/p>\n

\u201cINAMI should promote artisanal and small-scale mining, invest in the transformation of mining associations into cooperatives, in order to combat the smuggling of minerals and increase the capture of revenue from this activity,\u201d he reinforced.<\/p>\n
