Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The three mobile wallets in use in Mozambique are now interconnected under an agreement signed by the operators offering the services, the central bank announced yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cM-Pesa, mKesh and e-Mola [now] have their operations interconnected, which means that customers of these three electronic money platforms can transfer and receive money between each other in a comfortable and secure way,\u201d reads the note from the Bank of Mozambique.<\/p>\n

Where there is network coverage, the services of Vodacom (M-Pesa), Tmcel (mKesh) and Movitel (e-Mola) now allow you to send money (in meticais) to wallets associated with mobile numbers and make payments to clients on other services.<\/p>\n

Transactions are made using codes, even through older phones.<\/p>\n

The transfers were previously subject to restrictions by the lack of interconnection, preventing customers of one operator from sending money to or receiving sums from numbers on other operators, the note adds.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a result of the expansion of the mobile phone network, an opportunity has been created for the expansion of access and use of financial services provided by electronic money institutions in Mozambique,\u201d the statement underlines.<\/p>\n

The Bank of Mozambique says that the agreement puts into effect one of the main goals of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2016-2022, \u201cwhich will make an undeniable contribution to the promotion of electronic payments in the country,\u201d it concludes.<\/p>\n
