Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The National Petroleum Institute (INP) continues to work to ensure that the results of the sixth tender for hydrocarbon prospecting and research in Mozambique are released by the end of this year, INP chairman Naz\u00e1rio Balangane said a few days ago, adding that the institution was encouraged by the level of companies responding.<\/p>\n

In his first public statement since taking office at the head of the oil sector regulatory body, Balangane pointed out as a priority continuing the activities of the outgoing management.<\/p>\n

Among the challenges, in addition to ensuring the continuity of hydrocarbon research, Balangane mentioned the necessity of taking advantage of the potential that the country presents to guarantee the supply of gas as the energy of the future, not only in Mozambique but also in the world, bearing in mind that it is the energy of transition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Pande and Temane projects are already advanced, but other opportunities arise, such as the Petroleum Sharing Agreement in Inhassoro. We also have Coral Sul, which is starting to come online. We want these projects to be developed, taking into account operational safety and the protection of the environment,\u201d Balangane said, quoted by Not\u00edcias.<\/p>\n

Regarding the sixth oil and gas licensing round launched in November last year, the INP recently announced that 13 companies had competed, of which 12 have pre-qualified \u2013 six of them operators and the rest non-operators.<\/p>\n

The list of companies provided by the National Petroleum Institute (INP) includes, as operators: China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Hong Kong Holding Limited (CNOOC), SINOPEC International Energy Investment Limited, ENI Mozambico SPA, ExxonMobil Mozambique (Offshore) Limited, Petro-China International Iraq FZE and Total Energies Ep New Venture. Non-operating companies include RN Angoche PTE, Joint Stock Company Novatek, Qatar Petroleum Mozambique Limited, Sasol Africa (PTY) Limited, ONGC Videsh Limited and Discovery Exploration Limited.<\/p>\n

AITEO Eastern Exploration and Production Company Limited did not meet the pre-qualification requirements.<\/p>\n

Given the discoveries in the Rovuma Basin, Cabo Delgado province, Mozambique is currently one of the world\u2019s most desirable destinations for investment in hydrocarbon prospecting.<\/p>\n
