{"id":24114,"date":"2022-08-03T14:57:46","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T14:57:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\/all-news\/covid-19-harmed-fight-against-hiv-aids"},"modified":"2022-08-03T15:08:36","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T15:08:36","slug":"covid-19-harmed-fight-against-hiv-aids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\/all-news\/covid-19-harmed-fight-against-hiv-aids","title":{"rendered":"Covid-19 harmed fight against HIV\/AIDS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s health minister said on Wednesday that Covid-19 had affected the HIV\/AIDS programme in the country due to the reduction and diversion of resources to cope with the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe normal programmes for other diseases had to be reduced in terms of performance, because of a lack of resources and because of the fact that Covid-19 has imposed lockdowns in many countries,\u201d said Armindo Tiago, quoted by daily newspaper Not\u00edcias.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, Covid-19 forced the reallocation of resources from the programme to fight HIV\/AIDS and other diseases, which culminated in a reduction of the gains obtained in its combat.<\/p>\n<p>The isolation imposed by Covid-19, Armindo Tiago said, also affected the \u201cexport of medicines and hospital consumables,\u201d which led the entity to extend the period of prescribing antibiotics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the measures adopted was the introduction of long-term packs.
