Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, L\u00eddia Cardoso, on Monday urged the adoption of more sophisticated means to stop illegal fishing, warning of networks which engage in this illegal activity on the high seas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country needs more sophisticated means,\u201d L\u00eddia Cardoso told the media just after delivering a boat to reinforce surveillance in Maputo Bay.<\/p>\n

The vessel is one of five which will be distributed throughout the country \u2013 to Maputo, Sofala, Zamb\u00e9zia, Nampula and Niassa \u2013 as part of strategies to strengthen control over the Mozambican coast and curb illegal fishing.<\/p>\n
