Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The government will shortly announce the winner of the public tender to requalify the existing International Centre for Fairs and Exhibitions (FACIM) and build additional infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The tender was launched by the government last year, and the winner is now being determined through the Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Exports (APIEX).<\/p>\n

Minister of Industry and Commerce Silvino Moreno explained.<\/p>\n

The winning company will develop and modernise the whole FACIM project, using the public-private partnership regime as its financing model.<\/p>\n

Speaking a few days ago in Ricatla, Marracuene district, Silvino Moreno indicated that APIEX would establish a strategic partnership for the development, construction and management of the FACIM infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tender had a good turnout.<\/p>\n

At the moment, there is work being done by the government to determine the winner, and the expectation is that this year we will be learn which entity will start the construction of the definitive infrastructures,\u201d Minister Moreno said at the launch of the 57th edition of FACIM, which starts in a few days.<\/p>\n

According to Silvino Moreno, the idea is for that place to be a true centre to holding fairs.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the focus of the government\u2019s efforts is to attract exhibitions from all the various sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are currently negotiating with the tourism, fishing and construction material sectors to hold their fairs throughout the year.<\/p>\n

We want to continue holding fairs until the private manager starts exploiting the facilities,\u201d Minister Moreno said.<\/p>\n

The sustainability of FACIM is to be based on the effective exploitation of the premises currently used for exhibitions and adjacent areas, through the construction of infrastructure such as a convention centre, hotels and restaurants.<\/p>\n

The tender launched last year is aimed at developing a concept with modern infrastructure which includes a multi-purpose and themed pavilion, an agricultural and livestock exhibition space, a recreation area, a restaurant area and car parking, among others.<\/p>\n
