Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The National Oil Institute of Mozambique (INP) said on Wednesday that the anchoring of the floating platform of the consortium of Italian multinational ENI that will export natural gas in the Rovuma basin in northern Africa is still underway.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe only have the commissioning [anchoring] of the floating platform in progress and what I can say is that the process is taking place within the foreseen conditions\u201d, said the president of the INP, Naz\u00e1rio Bangalane, in statements to Not\u00edcias, the main Mozambican daily.<\/p>\n

Bangalane was reacting to news published in recent days by various media that the vessel that will transport the first gas from the Rovuma basin is on its way to the production field in the waters of northern Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The president of the INP advanced that \u201cno shipment is planned\u201d, also noting that \u201cthere is no indication of any vessel on its way to load gas\u201d.<\/p>\n

Naz\u00e1rio Bangalane declined to advance dates for the first export of liquefied natural gas, assuring that as soon as the conditions are created, the operation will be announced.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Mozambican authorities and the oil company ENI had announced the start of exports of natural gas through the platform in the second half of this year, but they have been more cautious about the dates for carrying out this step.<\/p>\n
