Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Maputo International Fair (FACIM), Mozambique\u2019s biggest trade, industrial and services fair, opens on Monday with over 2,000 exhibitors, including 350 from 22 foreign countries, and is expected to be visited by over 50,000 people, according to organisers.<\/p>\n

The trade fair, which this year is taking place for a 57th time, was as usual inaugurated by the country\u2019s president, Filipe Nyusi, who was scheduled to visit some of the event\u2019s pavilions and give a speech on the importance of the event.<\/p>\n

With regard to foreign participation, the presence of 22 countries is confirmed, including Portugal, which historically is the largest foreign exhibitor.<\/p>\n

Portugal\u2019s secretary of state for the economy, Jo\u00e3o Correia Neves, is to attend the opening day of the event, as part of an official visit he is undertaking to Mozambique.<\/p>\n

Besides being an opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their products and services, the fair is also a place for businesspeople to make contacts and sign partnership deals.<\/p>\n

FACIM also is a stage for cultural events and gastronomy, with concerts and the opportunity for visitors to enjoy traditional dishes from Mozambique and abroad, in various leisure spaces set up at the event site.<\/p>\n

The event, which 10 years ago was moved from the Maputo waterfront to the Marracuene district, outside the capital, is to run until 4 September.<\/p>\n
