Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican health authorities on Monday announced just one new case of the Covid-19 respiratory disease, after four cases on Sunday, and 11 on Saturday.<\/p>\n

According to a Monday press release from the Ministry of Health, the day\u2019s sole case was a Mozambican man from Maputo city.<\/p>\n

Since the start of the pandemic, 1,382,369 people have been tested in Mozambique for the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, 81 of them in the previous 24 hours. 80 of these tests yielded negative results, and the one who tested positive raised the total number of positive cases diagnosed in Mozambique to 230,069.<\/p>\n

No Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospital on Monday and no new cases were admitted. The number of patients undergoing medical care in the Covid-19 wards was unchanged at eight, the same figure as for both Saturday and Sunday. Only one of these patients is still in intensive care, receiving supplementary oxygen.<\/p>\n

No deaths from Covid-19 were reported on Monday, and so the death toll in Mozambique from the disease remains 2,220.<\/p>\n

50 recoveries were reported \u2013 20 in Cabo Delgado, 18 in Nampula, six in Gaza, four in Zambezia and two in Manica. The total number of recoveries now stands at 227,709, which is 98.97 per cent of all Covid-19 cases ever diagnosed in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The number of active cases of Covid-19 fell from 185 on Sunday to 136 on Monday. The geographical breakdown of the active cases was as follows: Niassa, 32; Maputo city, 26; Zambezia, 19; Tete, 19; Sofala, 18; Nampula, six; Gaza, five; Cabo Delgado, five; Maputo province, three; Manica, two; and Inhambane, one.<\/p>\n

The Ministry press release also reported that a further 758 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 on Monday. The total number fully vaccinated against the disease now stands at 14,679,077, which is 96.5 per cent of all citizens aged 18 and above.<\/p>\n

15,425,744 people have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, and 600,177 have received booster doses.<\/p>\n
