Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, on Friday said that Portugal may join the list of countries exempt from visa requirements for entry into the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are drawing up a list of countries that will be visa-free and I hope Portugal will be there,\u201d said Nyusi, at a joint press conference with the Portuguese prime minister, after the two participated in the opening of the investment business forum. between the two countries and visited FACIM (Maputo International Fair).<\/p>\n

Filipe Nyusi also indicated that \u201cit is a matter of informalizing and seeing which countries are part of the automatically accepted list\u201d.<\/p>\n

And he pointed out that visas are one of the issues included \u201cin the 20 measures of the economic facilitation package\u201d, referring that anyone \u201cwith investments of 50 million\u201d is entitled to a residence card valid for five years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Portugal delays, we will unilaterally open the doors\u201d, he said. Nyusi justified that Portugal does not carry risks or \u201ctransports crime to Mozambique\u201d.<\/p>\n

The head of state said that \u201cMozambicans find it more difficult to go to Portugal than the other way around\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese Government approved on Thursday the regulations for the entry into force of the mobility agreement in the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), which will facilitate the entry into Portugal of citizens of these countries.<\/p>\n

Today, Portugal\u2019s prime minister said he hopes that this decree-law will be enacted and can enter into force quickly, with visa applications from citizens of CPLP member countries starting to be \u201cout of the box\u201d accepted, provided they do not have any interdiction order or expulsion in the Schengen area.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor 99.9% of all CPLP natives, the granting of a visa will become automatic\u201d, said Ant\u00f3nio Costa.<\/p>\n

Costa defended that \u201cthe excellence of political relationship in the CPLP has to be translated into the daily lives of citizens\u201d.<\/p>\n

However, regarding a possible exemption, the Portuguese Head of Government noted that the \u201cvisa policy is a community issue and defined by the European Union\u201d and pointed out that what can be done is precisely to speed up the processes.<\/p>\n
