Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Coimbra Hospital and University Centre (CHUC) and Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) will cooperate in telemedicine in several medical specialities.<\/p>\n

In a statement sent to Lusa , the CHUC said it would provide teleconsultation, tele consultancy and tele diagnosis in the specialities of paediatric cardiology, cardiology, infectiology, internal medicine, neurology, oncology and pulmonology.<\/p>\n

The agreement, signed on Wednesday in the Mozambican capital, as part of the summit between the two countries, which is being attended by a large delegation headed by Portuguese Prime Minister Ant\u00f3nio Costa, may also involve \u201cother medical specialities that may be considered fundamental.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe intense and long experience of the CHUC, through the pioneering of its clinical services in the area of telemedicine, makes this institution a privileged partner and guarantor of the success of implementing this protocol.<\/p>\n

The Coimbra University hospital said that \u201ctelemedicine is nowadays recognised as an essential tool for the qualitative and quantitative improvement of healthcare, namely by reducing costs and time\u201d.<\/p>\n

The CHUC stressed that it was \u201ca tool that allows the provision of specialized healthcare, overcoming geographical barriers, connecting users who are not in the same physical location and involving the use of various types of information and communication technologies\u201d.<\/p>\n
