Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The president of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, said on Thursday that the 5th Luso-Mo\u00e7ambican Summit, being held in Maputo, was being productive and announced that the next meeting between the two countries would be held in Lisbon.<\/p>\n

At a joint press conference after meeting with Portugal\u2019s prime minister on the occasion of the 5th Luso-Mozambican Summit, Nyusi made a positive assessment of the work done so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaking a quick balance, I would say that it is being productive. The work still continues, we are having successes during the visit,\u201d he said. According to Nyusi, \u201cthere have been deep, open and honest debates\u201d, and e have managed to consolidate cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

In his opening speech, after the signing of six bilateral agreements, Mozambique\u2019s president announced that \u201cthe 6th bilateral summit will take place in Portugal\u201d, but did not announce a date.<\/p>\n

Nyusi thanked Portugal for its help \u201cin difficult times\u201d, such as the cyclones that regularly hit the country, the fight against terrorism and the Covid-19 pandemic, and pointed out that cooperation between the two countries \u201cis thriving\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also mentioned that the prime minister would visit the Portuguese military on Friday that are training Mozambican forces as part of the European Union mission and left a request.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaterial support would be fundamental to fight the enemy, to support these young men that are well trained but need to give their contribution with some modern equipment,\u201d he said, pointing out that terrorism is \u201can unpredictable issue [\u2026] without borders\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said that the European Union and Portugal were \u201cgiving Mozambicans a hook so that they can fish many times\u201d and said that \u201cat any time when there is terrorism,\u201d the country would be in a position to face it.<\/p>\n

On an economic level, Nyusi said the country would \u201ccontinue to favour public-private partnerships\u201d and added that the productive private sector \u201cneeds to be facilitated\u201d and called for boosting investments by Portuguese companies in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this regard, I mentioned the package of motivational measures to speed up the economy in Mozambique, we think it is an opportunity for Portugal to explore because it facilitates the private sector, in the knowledge that it is the private sector that can boost our economies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the Portuguese prime minister would visit FACIM (Maputo International Fair) this Friday, the second and final day of his official visit to Mozambique, and speak at the opening of the business forum \u201cas a way of providing strength, support to the private and productive sector and enhance the role of the business community of the two countries.<\/p>\n
