Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s president, Filipe Nyusi, said on Friday that Queen Elizabeth II \u201cgave her entire life to the world with great passion\u201d, noting the \u201caffection and respect\u201d of the people of his country for the late monarch.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to convey the solidarity of the Mozambican people who so respected and cherished Her Majesty for all she did to strengthen the relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation that prevail between Mozambique and Britain, as well as with the Commonwealth,\u201d Nyusi said in a message of condolence on the occasion of Elizabeth II\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Stressing that it was with deep regret that he learned of the monarch\u2019s physical disappearance, the Mozambican head of state also highlights the queen\u2019s loyalty and sense of mission to her country and the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe personified the discreet vigour that the world was fortunate to witness over decades,\u201d the text reads.<\/p>\n

During the late monarch\u2019s reign, the message continues, Mozambique enjoyed excellent relations with the United Kingdom, having joined the Commonwealth as a full member.<\/p>\n

Mozambique joined the Commonwealth in 1995, despite not being a colony of the British Empire. It was colonised by Portugal and is part of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).<\/p>\n

Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland after more than 70 years of the longest reign in the history of the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on 21 April 1926 in London. She became Queen of England in 1952 at the age of 25 following her father\u2019s death, George VI, who became King when his brother abdicated.<\/p>\n

After the monarch\u2019s death, her first-born son has assumed the king\u2019s duties at the age of 73 as Charles III.<\/p>\n
