Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The fourth phase of mass vaccination for Covid-19, for teenagers aged 12 to 17 years in Mozambique, is due to start on 27 September confirms the Health Ministry on its website.<\/p>\n

The Ministry urges parents and guardians to encourage those eligible under their care to be vaccinated to prevent serious forms of Covid-19, as well as to cut down the number of hospitalisations and deaths due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Health authorities assure that all the Covid-19 vaccines currently, in use in the country, are safe and have undergone a thorough evaluation and only after being tested they were approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).<\/p>\n

Since March 2021, when the vaccination campaign started in Mozambique, a total of 15,435,472 people have been immunized in the country.<\/p>\n

As of today (12) 14,692,062 people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The national immunisation coverage now stands at 96.6 per cent<\/p>\n

Mozambique received last week 1,333,800 doses of Pfizer\u2019s Covid-19 Vaccine, valued at 36.5 million US dollars, from the COVAX Initiative, to be used for immunization of the target group.<\/p>\n

These are the first two batches of a total of 4,899,960 doses that are expected to arrive in the country by this Tuesday (13), funded by the United States government.<\/p>\n
