Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s ruling party Frelimo is revising its statutes to improve guiding principles, including nature and working methods, in the face of new developments at both domestic and international level.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Maputo this Thursday, at the opening of the II Extraordinary Session of the Central Committee, Frelimo\u2019s President Filipe Nyusi, explained that the revision include Party\u2019s programme, to reaffirm the vision of economic development focused on building a prosperous, inclusive, united, harmonious and social justice society, centred on the defence of the highest interests of the Mozambican people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will consider the proposed revision of the Party\u2019s guiding documents, to adapt them to the new political, economic and social situation in the country and the world. We are talking about statutes and Party programme\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

Nyusi, who is also Mozambique\u2019 President, said that this extraordinary session would also take stock of the preparations for the 12th Congress, to be held from 23 to 28 September in Matola, Maputo province.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will take stock of the activities carried out in preparation for the XII Congress since the launch of the study of the theses until the phase of the meetings party branches and the just ended provincial conferences,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

The extraordinary meeting is also expected to consider proposed regulations for the Congress.<\/p>\n

President Nyusi assured that the Congress will take place in an environment where delegates can freely and openly share their experiences on the real situation of Frelimo, in order to make it increasingly stronger.<\/p>\n

For his part, Frelimo General Secretary, Roque Silva, hailed efforts undertaken by the members in pursuit of the objectives defined at the XI Frelimo Congress.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are gathered here to harmonize and approve the main instruments to be submitted to the magna-meeting. Therefore, I would like to salute the efforts undertaken both individually and collectively members in pursuit of the objectives defined in the XI Frelimo Congress,\u201d he stressed.
