Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The government expects the upcoming 8th edition of the Mozambique International Tourism Fair (FIKANI), scheduled for October 13th to 15th in Maputo city, to provide greater exposure of the country\u2019s tourism potential.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the FIKANI launch ceremony, Minister of Culture and Tourism Eldevina Materula observed that this year\u2019s edition brought to an end a prolonged hiatus in the tourism industry at a national and international level.<\/p>\n

In this context, Materula said, the challenge for everyone was to stimulate the development of partnerships between the public and private sectors and rural communities in order to transform tourism potential into real opportunities capable of benefiting all.<\/p>\n

FIKANI 2022, the first after a prolonged period of paralysis in international tourism, therefore deserved the greatest investment to showcase the national potential and decisively boost recovery in the sector.<\/p>\n

The 8th edition of FIKANI Mozambique will take place under the motto: \u201cTourism as a Factor of Economic Revitalization\u201d.<\/p>\n

FIKANI was launched in 2013, and is organised in a joint partnership between the Government of Mozambique and the private sector, in the shape of the Mozambican Federation of Tourism and Hospitality. It is the most prestigious tourism business event and also a significant meeting place for Mozambican tourism operators and institutions and their counterparts in the Southern African region and elsewhere in the world.<\/p>\n

This year, FIKANI will have 150 stands and is expected to receive 5,000 visitors, including local and international tour operators and buyers from the region.<\/p>\n

The FIKANI launch heard interventions from tourism partners such as AVITUM [Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators of Mozambique], ARECMO [Association of Restaurant and Catering in Mozambique[ and SINTIHOTS. [the Hospitality Trade Union in Mozambique]<\/p>\n

The event was attended by the Secretary of State for the City of Maputo, the Deputy-Minister of Culture and Tourism, the President of the Mozambican Tourism Federation (FEMOTUR), private sector operators and representatives of the CTA [Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique] and cooperation partner institutions.<\/p>\n

The ceremony hosted a lottery for a stand at theFIKANI, in which the Chamber of Commerce won first place, with TMcel coming second and NedBank taking third place. A participant from the previous edition of FIKANI also received a \u2018Strategic Partner Certificate\u2019.<\/p>\n
