Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Humanitarian assistance to around 5,000 families displaced by terrorism in the districts of Er\u00e1ti and Memba in Nampula province will today begin to be delivered by the National Institute for the Management of Natural Disasters (INGD).<\/p>\n

The INGD\u2019s Tim\u00f3teo Viagem said this was a coordinated action between his institution and humanitarian response agencies including the World Food Program (WFP), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR ) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).<\/p>\n

The humanitarian assistance consists of food products such as rice, beans, cooking oil, and other essential goods such as blankets, straw mats and tarpaulins.<\/p>\n

Tim\u00f3teo Viagem said that the list of displaced persons was constantly being updated with a view to subsequent steps.<\/p>\n

The INGD has so far counted 3,672 families in Er\u00e1ti district, corresponding to 18,772 people, of whom 15,669 are sheltering in Vila-sede de Namapa and the remainder in Alua administrative, Namapa district.<\/p>\n

In Memba district, 1,197displaced families, corresponding to 6,224 people, are registered. They fled a terrorist attack in Chipene administrative post and are sheltering in a number of communities in the region.<\/p>\n

The terrorist attacks in Er\u00e1ti and Memba districts took place about a month ago.<\/p>\n
