Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Fifty-two officials from the district governments of Manhi\u00e7a and Matutu\u00edne, in Maputo province, have undergone training to improve their knowledge in matters of sustainable management of land and natural resources.<\/p>\n

The training, guided by Centro Terra Viva (CTV), a non-governmental organisation that works to protect the rights of citizens, is designed to help professionals improve mechanisms for protecting the rights of communities facing investments with the potential to jeopardise environmental and land rights.<\/p>\n

The training took place in Matutu\u00edne district on Thursday, September 29, and involved 26 district government officials and managers. The day before, an equal number had been trained in Manhi\u00e7a district.<\/p>\n

Training covered those responsible for the areas of the environment, land, climate change, planning, cadastre, infrastructure, land use planning, mining, planning, gender and also forestry and wildlife surveillance.<\/p>\n

The training examined topics such as \u201cThe Internal Structure of Laws\u201d, \u201cCommon Aspects of Laws on Natural Resources\u201d, and \u201cLegal Regime \u2013 State, Citizen, Community and Access to Natural Resources, the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique\u201d. \u201cPublic and Community Consultations\u201d, \u201cResettlement Resulting from Economic Activities\u201d and \u201cThe Legal Framework for Territorial Planning\u201d were also covered.<\/p>\n

This training is part of the project \u201cIncreasing the Scale of Community Legal Literacy, Certification of Land Rights and Climate Resilience in Mozambique\u201d, implemented by CTV and Terra Firma, with funding from the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
