Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Ant\u00f3nio Sa\u00edde, said in Cape Town this Wednesday that Mozambique has the natural resources potential for energy generation, which can contribute to industrialization and supplying clean energy needs in the context of the energy transition in the country, the region and the world.<\/p>\n

In a question-and-answer panel on the role of Mozambican natural resources in a context of energy transition, Saide mentioned renewable energy sources totalling at 23 terawatts, including solar, hydro, wind and biomass, in addition to natural gas reserves whose exploitation has served domestically and the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been playing our role as providers through power generation and supply projects in the region, through transmission lines and gas infrastructures to South Africa and Zimbabwe, and we are now building the Mozambique-Malawi line and preparing one with Zambia. We will continue to work to create synergies to guarantee access not only to our own population, but to continue to contribute to filling the energy deficit in the region and in a global perspective,\u201d Sa\u00edde emphasized.<\/p>\n

Participating in the ministerial panel on investment in African countries and synergies for development, the deputy minister said that Mozambique had a master plan for natural gas that prioritizes, among others, the generation of energy for domestic consumption and export.<\/p>\n

\u201cMozambique does not only think about itself, but also about how to share its resources with the region and with the world,\u201d Sa\u00edde said, noting that the start of LNG production and export through the Rovuma basin Coral South project, is expected soon.<\/p>\n

The Green Energy Africa Summit takes place on the side-lines of the 28th edition of Africa Oil Week, an annual summit that brings together more than 2,000 participants from the energy, oil and gas sectors, and whose focus this year was the energy transition.<\/p>\n
