Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Google has launched voice typing support for nine more African languages in Gboard.<\/p>\n

These are isiNdebele, isiXhosa, Kinyarwanda, Northern Sotho, Swati, Sesotho, Tswana, Tshivenda and Xistonga.<\/p>\n

Another 24 new languages are now supported on Google Translate, including Lingala, which is used by more than 45 million people across Central Africa.<\/p>\n

There are over 2000 languages spread across Africa with less than one percent being represented online.<\/p>\n

It has also refreshed Street View in Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa.<\/p>\n

The company has added nearly 300,000 km of imagery to the feature.<\/p>\n

This will help people virtually explore and navigate neighbourhoods on Google Maps.<\/p>\n

Street View is now available in 11 African countries as they are also extending the service to Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Google Street View survey enhances information and it is how we see the world.<\/p>\n

E-commerce businesses can have access to accurate maps about a specific location they are looking to venture into for last-mile delivery.<\/p>\n

Google is looking to improve its Street View coverage in order to modify its maps collection data.<\/p>\n

Africa\u2019s internet economy has the potential to grow to $ 180 billion by 2025, 5.2 percent of the continent\u2019s GDP.<\/p>\n

Google also continues to support small African businesses through the Hustle academy and Google Business Profiles.<\/p>\n

It also helps job seekers learn the skills they need through Developer Scholarships and Career Certifications.<\/p>\n

Google also announced the launch of Interview Warm up.<\/p>\n

This free feature seeks to help job seekers prepare for job interviews without time restrictions.<\/p>\n

The feature is able to help one with new vocabulary so as to avoid repetition and even time management in that it tells you if you are giving more information than is required.<\/p>\n

Last year, 7,500 career scholarships were disbursed to help young people learn new skills and build their careers.<\/p>\n

Recently Google partnered with UN to launch the Global Africa Business initiative (GABI), a global partnership aiming to accelerate Africa\u2019s economic growth and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Google, through its $50 million Africa Investment Fund that targets equity investments in tech start-ups, has since invested in three businesses over the past nine months.<\/p>\n

These are Carry1st (South Africa) Lori systems (Kenya) and SafeBoda (Nigeria and Uganda).<\/p>\n

Google Africa managing director Nitin Gajria said that Google is collaborating with governments, policymakers, NGOs, telcos, business leaders, creators and media so that they can help accelerate Africa\u2019s digital transformation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the talent and drive of the individuals in the countries and communities of Africa that will power Africa\u2019s economic growth,\u201d Gajria said.<\/p>\n
