Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>As part of the Support Programme for the Reconstruction of Cabo Delgado, the Ministry of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries is donating fishing equipment to fishermen and women affected by terrorism in the province.<\/p>\n

In a ceremony held on Thursday, October 6, in Pemba, Minister Li\u0301dia Cardoso delivered to Governor Valige Tauabo, 120 25 horse-power engines for fishing boats, 470 cooler boxes for the conservation and transport of fish, and 2,100 fishing gear kits.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, the two officials reiterated the need to ensure that the material reached its intended beneficiaries, while guaranteeing the sustainability of fishery resources.<\/p>\n

On the same day, Minister Cardoso also delivered to the fishermen and women of Ibo district, 10 fishing kits, 80 fishing nets, 6,000 floats, 20 signal buoys, 100 lengths of rope and 10 cooler boxes.<\/p>\n

The Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries started her working visit to Cabo Delgado on Wednesday, October 5, on her first day holding courtesy meetings with Secretary of State, Anto\u0301nio Supeia, and Governor Valige Tauabo.<\/p>\n

During her stay, Li\u0301dia Cardoso visited several undertakings linked to the sector and met fishery and aquaculture operators to better understand her portfolio and raise awareness of the census.<\/p>\n

The minister made the symbolic delivery of fishing equipment included in Phase 1 of the \u2018Mais Peixe Sustenta\u0301vel\u2019 [More Sustainable Fishing] programme, which is being implemented in the seven provinces of the centre and north of the country.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the minister on this trip were the Chairman of National Navy Institute (INAMAR), Isaias Mondlane; the Coordinator of the National Institute for Fisheries Research (InOM), Jorge Mafuca; and the Deputy Director General of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Institute (IDEPA), Bastos Picardo.<\/p>\n
