Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Two hundred and thirty-seven people are set to benefit from 48 houses with two bedrooms and a living room being built by non-governmental organizations United Purpose and Farma Mundi in Niassa. Food and hygiene products are also being distributed.<\/p>\n

According to United Purpose representative Agostinho Cigarro, construction of six of the homes planned in the Malica IDP (internally displaced persons) centre in Cabo Delgado is progressing well.<\/p>\n

Construction material such as zinc sheets, bars, and nails has already been purchased, says Cigarro, adding: \u201cWe have already started to distribute the first part of the food products. On Saturday or Sunday, we will come to distribute hygiene products.\u201d<\/p>\n

IDPs don\u2019t want to depend on help<\/b><\/p>\n

The IDPs are grateful for the assistance and praise \u201cthe goodwill that still exists\u201d among people in the region. Martins Nkamate, one of those displaced from Cabo Delgado, says that both food products and houses under construction are needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t expecting this help. But it\u2019s great that we\u2019re getting this food. It\u2019s food that will last us into the next month or more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another IDP, Pio Daniel, also has only words of gratitude, saying: \u201cI\u2019m very grateful that they are building houses for us to live in. We\u2019ll be very thankful for them finishing our houses, so that we have a place to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, those displaced by the war are asking for land to farm, so that they can produce their own food and stop being dependent on support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
