Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates will sign a set of memoranda to strengthen bilateral cooperation, as part of a working visit by the Mozambican head of state to Abu Dhabi, according to a diplomatic source.<\/p>\n

Filipe Nyusi\u2019s four-day visit to the United Arab Emirates began on Sunday and comes at the invitation of his counterpart, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Tiago Castigo, Mozambique\u2019s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, told the media in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

As part of the visit, according to the source, the parties will sign an agreement on economic and technical cooperation, but there are two other memorandums of understanding still being drafted on defence cooperation and on counter-terrorism.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are also contacts to establish a visa waiver agreement on diplomatic and service passports, and we also want this agreement to be extended to normal passports.<\/p>\n

It is also our concern that there be a direct air link between the two countries, and the Minister of Transport and Communication, Mateus Magala, is here and will hold meetings in this area,\u201d explained the Mozambican ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

Latest figures released by CTA \u2013 Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique pointed to the United Arab Emirates as the fifth among Mozambique\u2019s main trading partners, with the volume of trade between the two countries reaching about US$550 million (\u20ac559 million) in 2019.<\/p>\n
