Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>One child died and eight other people suffered serious and minor injuries in Manhic\u0327a district, Maputo province, following wind and heavy rain on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The child was inside a house whose wall collapsed.<\/p>\n

According to Radio Mozambique, the gale also destroyed some social infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Some trees were also toppled, demolishing an unknown number of dwellings.<\/p>\n

Two classrooms were left without rooves, and some neighbourhoods were still without electricity this Thursday.<\/p>\n

The supply of electricity to customers in Manhic\u0327a, Maputo province, was cut on Tuesday evening, due to bad weather causing trees and branches to fall on the power lines in that part of the country.<\/p>\n

According to a note quoted by \u2018Noti\u0301cias Online\u2019, the interruption affected about 5,000 customers in the areas of the Aerodrome, Ribangue, Manhic\u0327a District Hospital, Maragra sugar factory, the Malaria Research Centre (CISM) and around the machambas of Ina\u0301cio Sousa.<\/p>\n

Electricidade de Moc\u0327ambique (EDM) technical teams were quickly on the ground, working to restore normal electricity supply to the areas affected.<\/p>\n
