Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Last Thursday, the Chamber of Mines of Mozambique (CMM) held an extraordinary general assembly. Amidst a strong turnout, the mining companies and title holders elected the Chamber\u2019s representatives for the next three years.<\/p>\n

The CMM is experiencing a period of strong growth of its membership base. \u201cWe are pleased that this year we are receiving a strong interest from smaller mining companies and associations to also be part of the Chamber\u201d, said Executive Director Eugenio Silva.<\/p>\n

The CMM was founded in 2012 to further the interests of the Mozambican mining industry, in fields such as policy making, legislation, labour matters, development and promoting best practices in the mining industry.<\/p>\n

In addition, the CMM is currently executing a program for the German Chamber of Commerce IHK Chemnitz with funding from the Federal Republic of Germany. This program aims to improve safety, occupational health and environmental protection and gender equality in the Mozambican mining industry.<\/p>\n

The CMM members elected Geert Klok to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jose Dai as the Chairman of the General Assembly and Fernando Bengala as the Chairman of the Audit Committee.<\/p>\n
