Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambique Airport Handling Services (MAHS) has been certified by IATA\u2019s Safety Audit of Ground Operations (ISAGO) programme, the first Mozambican company to receive the distinction.<\/p>\n

MAHS management says the recognition is an incentive to continue to seek to satisfy its customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means greater trust on the part of our customers towards the company, because most handling operations abroad also work based on this certificate. All companies that want to operate in Mozambique, knowing that we are certified, will be sure that we follow universal safety standards of international procedures. This brings us added value so that we are in pole position here in the country,\u201d said Hila\u0301rio Tembe, chairman of the Board of Directors of Mozambique Airport Handling Services (MAHS).<\/p>\n

But certification also raises new challenges. \u201cFor us, it\u2019s always a big responsibility. Standards will rise, it is not enough to obtain the certificate, we have to work to maintain these standards,\u201d Lourenc\u0327o Guiuele, director general of MAHS, remarked.<\/p>\n

The MAHS management revealed that they are in the process of continuing with the ISAGO Certification process at their operations in Beira, Nampula and Nacala.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Civil Aviation Institute of Mozambique, Joa\u0303o de Abreu, says that the recognition is a reflection of the company\u2019s competence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis came to be translated, without a doubt, in the acquired experience. MAHS has been serving here at our airports for many years and, in fact, this maturity was reflected in this certificate,\u201d de Abreu said.<\/p>\n

What is IATA\u2019s ISAGO certification?<\/b><\/p>\n

ATA\u2019s Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) has been built upon a \u201cbackbone\u201d of audit standards applicable to all ground handling companies worldwide, coupled with a uniform set of standards relevant for the specific activities of any ground handler. As a result, the ISAGO audit can be applied consistently to multinational ground handlers, as well as to smaller companies providing services at a single station.<\/p>\n
