Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique called the government for an \u201curgent\u201d debate this Wednesday on the \u201cRisks of Civil Service Stoppage\u201d, the parliamentary agenda distributed yesterday reads.<\/p>\n

The note from the Assembly of the Republic did not give details about the scheduling, but several deputies told Lusa that the request to hear the executive was made to the Parliament\u2019s Standing Commission by the bench of the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), the country\u2019s main opposition party.<\/p>\n

The session takes place in a context in which several civil service professional classes are contesting the new Civil Service Salary Table (TSU) on the grounds of framing errors, elimination of subsidies and reduction of salaries.<\/p>\n

The Medical Association of Mozambique rescheduled for December 5 the national strike originally scheduled for Monday after negotiating advances, but still awaiting a response to various claims.<\/p>\n

In letters published in various media, groups of teachers also threatened to paralyse classes and boycott exams for the upcoming school year, in opposition to the TSU.<\/p>\n

The Mozambican Association of Judges (AMJ) on Monday threatened to challenge the new remuneration matrix, considering that the instrument \u201ccalls into question the constitutional statute of judges\u201d.<\/p>\n

Also this Wednesday, parliament was scheduled to discuss in general the Proposal for Revision of the Professional Education Law, number 23\/2014 of 23 September.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the Draft Resolution concerning the General State Account for the 2021 Economic Year would be considered in general and in particular, this Wednesday.<\/p>\n

According to the agenda released yesterday the Assembly of the Republic would today also discuss in the specifics the Draft Law on the Legal Regime for Foreign Citizens, establishing the respective rules for entry, permanent residence and departure from the country, as well as their rights, duties and guarantees, and repeals Law number 5\/93 of 28 December.<\/p>\n
