Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The latest interns of the Mimi Niko Kazi, youth employability programme, at the graduation ceremony in Maputo on 7th of November 2022
\nThe transition from degree to paid work is challenging.<\/p>\n

Entry positions require specific experience which those who are entering workforce can\u2019t provide.<\/p>\n

The Mimi Niko Kazi (MNK) programme helps to smooth this transition and find the path that leads to a fast-growing career.<\/p>\n

The MNK programme has been created by MozParks as the second phase of the youth employability project in 2018, providing a guided transition from education to work by matching newly qualified talents with employers.<\/p>\n

Young professionals complete their six-month internship at one of the 114 host companies in the 7 provinces of Mozambique that partnered with MozParks in this project.<\/p>\n

So far more than half of the graduates of the programme found permanent employment at the end of their internships.<\/p>\n

On the 7th of November in Maputo, another 102 young professionals, 55 of them women, celebrated the end of their MNK internships and the start of their careers.<\/p>\n

TotalEnergies, the Embassy of Ireland in Mozambique, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and Education for Development (E4D \u2013 GIZ) are the partners of MozParks in this youth employability project.<\/p>\n

Laila Sheikh-Ru\u0308ttimann, the Head of Cooperation in the Swiss Embassy in Mozambique, a sponsor and a partner of MozParks, stressed the importance of the MNK programme in improving living conditions for Mozambicans.<\/p>\n

Alexandra Oppermann, the coordinator of the E4D -GIZ programme, one of the donors of this project, thanked the companies that offered training placements to young people, recognising this as an opportunity to identify and recruit talent.<\/p>\n

Niamh Casey, the Second Secretary at the Embassy of Ireland in Mozambique noted that the Mozparks model seemed successful, and the embassy was willing to support the third phase of the youth employability project branded as MozYouth.<\/p>\n

Oswaldo Peterburgo, the Secretary of State for Youth thanked MozParks for the MNK programme and unveiled the launch of MozYouth, which will receive first interns in 2023.<\/p>\n

He emphasised the importance of the Mozparks employability projects and its impact on the national economy development.<\/p>\n

Onorio Manuel, the MozParks General Manager, outlined unique opportunities to overcome a skilled workforce shortage in remote areas by partnering with MozParks in the MNK and MozYouth programmes and contributing to the sustainable national development in the Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Montepuez provinces where MozParks is building a network of agro-industrial parks.<\/p>\n

He thanked the current partners and donors and invited new ones to join MozParks in this employability and recruitment project nationwide.<\/p>\n
