Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Ports and Railways of Mozambique (CFM) has announced in a communique\u0301 that the locomotive which on Monday hauled the first passenger train in 30 years from Beira to Dondo, broke down on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

The train was about to make the return trip from Dondo to Beira when the locomotive broke down and as a consequence, was unable to facilitate passenger transport between the two cities in Sofala province. According to the CFM note, the locomotive suffered a malfunction in the electronic starting system just as it was preparing to make the second trip.<\/p>\n

In the note, CFM apologised for the inconvenience to passengers and guaranteed that the problem would be solved in the next few hours, given that the locomotive was still in the commissioning process and the manufacturer\u2019s technicians were still in the city.<\/p>\n

The locomotives acquired by CFM are made in India and serve to reinforce the passenger transport service in the interurban areas of the southern and central rail systems with greater comfort and convenience, the CFM communique reads.<\/p>\n
