Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>From January to September 2022, the Mozambican economy saw the initiation of 160 new business projects, collectively valued at US$1.7 billion, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Silvino Moreno told parliament this Wednesday (16-110) in a questions-to-government session.<\/p>\n

Minister Moreno said that the new projects were in the areas of agriculture, banking, construction, industry, transport and communications, energy, hotels and tourism and projects and service providers, and spread across all provinces.<\/p>\n

The approval of those projects is proof of the country\u2019s sound business environment, the minister asserted. \u201cThis is an unmistakable sign that the economy is growing and continues to be attractive for new investments, thanks to its good business environment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

With regard to the cost of living, the Minister of Industry and Trade said that the solution to the problem was to increase domestic production, and that this was happening with the country-wide implementation of the Sustenta programme.<\/p>\n

For the Sustenta programme to effectively contribute to the reduction of food product prices, Moreno said, the government needed \u201cto implement a distribution network, warehouses, stores and other functional infrastructure throughout the country, to allow the transporting of production from one province to another, as well as its sale at competitive prices\u201d.<\/p>\n
