Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Health promises improvements in the quality of computed tomography (CT) services in 2023.<\/p>\n

On the second day of questions to the government in parliament, the executive responded to deputies\u2019 insistent questioning on behalf of the people.<\/p>\n

In particular, Minister of Health Armindo Tiago focused on the need to maintain computed axial tomography (CAT) services, in reaction to a question from the Renamo bench about the lack of CAT scanners in Maputo city.<\/p>\n

The Minister denied there was any shortage and said that the CAT scanners at Maputo Central Hospital, Mavalane General Hospital and Maputo Military Hospital \u2013 those chosen by the Government to provide this service \u2013 were operational.<\/p>\n

Minister Tiago acknowledged the possibility of malfunction, but says that it is not a reason for alarm.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen patients go to one of these hospitals and the device is out of order, what we recommend is to ensure that they can have the examination in any other unit. We have a partnership with the private sector to respond to situations of this kind,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, to ensure improvement in the availability and quality of services, the minister promised changes for 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the first quarter of 2023, we will allocate an additional CT scanner to all central hospitals, so that each hospital will have two CT scanners, so that people don\u2019t have to pay 20,000 meticais in private hospitals when there is a breakdown,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Armindo Tiago further added that, \u201cby the end of 2023, for the first time in this country, all provincial and general hospitals will have CAT scanners. If you want, you can go check it out, when the time comes. When we promise, we deliver\u201d.<\/p>\n
