Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, who is head of the worldwide Anglican Church, on Monday urged Mozambicans to reject violence and all actions that compromise tranquility in society, in order to consolidate effective peace.<\/p>\n

The Archbishop, who has been visiting Mozambique since Saturday, was speaking to reporters moments after he was received by Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane.
\n\u201cI think it is fundamental that in the hearts of all Mozambicans there should be a rejection of violence and of those who practice violence, so that together we can build the peace we long for\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

As for inter-religious conflicts, Welby called on church leaders to show humility and love, along the lines of Jesus Christ himself. \u201cIf we do this, there will always be reconciliation between those involved\u201d.<\/p>\n

Welby plans to visit the northern province of Cabo Delgado, which has suffered terrorist attacks since 2017, where he will transmit a message of comfort to people displaced by the jihadists.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo Cabo Delgado, I am carrying a message of comfort, and that we share in their suffering\u201d, he said. \u201cThey are not alone and they are not forgotten\u201d, he said. \u201cThe church shall continue to work with civil society so that life improves, and until peace is attained\u201d.<\/p>\n
