Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The 4th edition of the FNB MAPUTO 10K \u2013 Corrida das Aca\u0301cias event took place on November 19, 2022, with more than 3400 participants crossing the Maputo-Katembe bridge, in a total journey of 10km. The race started at the Katembe Municipal Building at 06h30 with the finish line at Prac\u0327a da Independe\u0302ncia, in Maputo.<\/p>\n

The event became even more special at the finish line, where our Olympic champion, Maria de Lurdes Mutola, received and congratulated most of the participants personally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled and grateful for the influx of the runner community,\u201d said Peter Blenkinsop, CEO of FNB Mozambique. \u201cCrossing the Maputo\u2013Katembe bridge running or walking was a pleasure and a very special experience for all of us. We would like to thank each of the participants, sponsors and partners for their valuable support, without which the event would not have been possible. Together we managed to underline the splendor of the City of Aca\u0301cias\u201d.<\/p>\n

The big male winner of the race, with a time of 31 minutes and 24 seconds, Alex Macuacua says: \u201cI participated in the FNB MAPUTO 10K because I like to run, my objective was to win but I was worried about the competition, because I didn\u2019t know how good the other runners would be. The race was good and I am very happy to have been part of it, I would really like to participate next year\u201d.<\/p>\n

Zeferina Marinho, the female winner with a time of 37 minutes and 38 seconds, comments: \u201cI had already been preparing for the race for three or four months, I did part of the course beforehand to see if there would be any difficulties. My objective was to win but I knew it wouldn\u2019t be easy because I know we have good runners, but my coach has been putting a lot of pressure on me. The FNB MAPUTO 10K is a fantastic race. I definitely want to come back next year to improve my time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2022 edition of this race saw the delivery of medals to more than 3400 participants, in addition to more than 660,000MZN (six hundred and sixty thousand meticais) in monetary prizes divided into the categories of Federated, Popular, Veterans and Physical Disability, in men and women. It should be noted that an amount of 200,000MT was also allocated to Mozambique runners who managed to beat the national record.<\/p>\n
