Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican parliament approved, by consensus and in general this Thursday (01-12), changes to the customs tariff aimed at standardising the descriptions of goods and facilitating the application of international conventions.<\/p>\n

The modifications are part of the package of economic acceleration measures announced by President Filipe Nyusi in August.<\/p>\n

Proposing the document in parliament, Minister of Economy and Finance Max Tonela said that the changes would also bolster controls on the import and export of some products that constitute a danger to public health.<\/p>\n

They would also strengthen the protection of some animal species, he added.<\/p>\n

Some goods will benefit from exemption or reduction of duties, including equipment and materials intended for projects and public works whose customs charges are determined by the government.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn indicative table of tariff positions whose goods are subject to the surcharge and tables relating to tariff disarmament, within the scope of unilateral and bilateral international trade agreements\u201d is also introduced.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Economy and Finance noted that, in general, the changes approved yesterday. adapt \u201cthe customs tariff to the development of international trade, through the adoption of the harmonised system of tariff nomenclature for the coding and description of goods\u201d.<\/p>\n
