Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>President Filipe Nyusi yesterday launched Mozambique\u2019s new electronic entry visa issuing system \u2013 now live at evisa.gov.mz.<\/p>\n

The new system, called eVISA, should \u201csimplify the procedure of obtaining a visa\u201d, the head of state said during the opening ceremony of the Coordinating Council of the Ministry of the Interior in Maputo.<\/p>\n

The eVisa system is part of the package of measures announced by the government in August and designed to accelerate the economy, promoting \u201cgood practices for reducing bureaucracy\u201d and contributing to the \u201cimprovement of the business environment\u201d, the president noted.<\/p>\n

In particular, the head of state hopes that the new visa system will \u201cboost\u201d the tourism sector.<\/p>\n

The president called on the National Migration Service (Senami) to live up to its responsibilities and manage the new platform competently.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome [people] will [try to] complicate things, because this [eVISA] system cuts out corruption,\u201d President Nyusi observed, but, properly rolled out, it would provide \u201cquality services, flexible and always focused on solving and not creating difficulties\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay it be the brand that our country needed to change the course of its history in terms of attracting foreign investment, without neglecting security aspects,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

The eVisa portal requires registration by the applicant, who enters his or her data and sends the necessary documentation for the type of visa required (tourist, business, humanitarian or other), and then awaits a response.<\/p>\n

If approved, a provisional visa is issued, which is to be presented upon entry into Mozambique, at which time the respective payment is made and the effective visa issued.<\/p>\n
