Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican government has created a commission to investigate the causes of the closure of the Cimento Nacional company in Beluluane Industrial Park, Maputo province.<\/p>\n

The company closed without warning, leaving more than 300 workers to their fate.<\/p>\n

Secretary of State for Maputo province Vit\u00f3ria Diogo told Radio Mozambique that the creation of the commission would safeguard the rights of workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cA case was sent to the Attorney\u2019s Office to look at what, in legal terms, might be done. We have set up a commission, which is working, and has already made contact with some of the [Cimento Nacional] managers, who unfortunately are outside the country, so that they constitute a representative because there are rules that have to be obeyed in order to guarantee that, if a company closes, it complies with procedures to indemnify workers and ensure that everything that the legal framework dictates in relation to matters of this nature is safeguarded,\u201d Vit\u00f3ria Digo said.<\/p>\n

The closure of Cimento Nacional in the largest industrial park in Maputo province comes at a time when the cement sector is suffering from strong competition in the national market.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, TVM reports that one oother cement factory has also closed, alleging unfair competitivo [on the part of a recently opened cement factory] .<\/p>\n
