Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Speaking in Zambe\u0301zia province after launching the Health Policy and inaugurating residences for doctors at the Quelimane Central Hospital, the President of the Republic demanded from the health professionals demanding a review of their framing in the new Single Salary Table (TSU) and the implementation of its 2013 statute, \u201cBrothers, it\u2019s good to let us work; don\u2019t block our reasoning\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYears and years, years and years we have been uneven in salary and we, my government, took the initiative to stabilize and we are thinking more things, do not block us, we want to think more about those who suffer,\u201d argued the Head of State citing as an example the patience of the Forces of Defence and Security who are still waiting for salaries under the new TSU.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no 1st class or 2nd class employees; we have this initiative within the few possibilities that exist! In my government, there is no space for people to be afraid to talk to the members, we even talk to those who sometimes think they are ideologically different people, so let us work there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a feeling of interrupting the TSU regime for doctors and discussing the problem until we reach a conclusion because it is not known which table we have to use, the one that the government is suggesting or those things that each day are new that the doctors who are in the field do not even know what is being discussed,\u201d President Nyusi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone having five and saying that now it\u2019s 10, saying no I must be 60, why not give us time to think and get to 60 if you weren\u2019t even seven? I\u2019m not here to negotiate, but this country\u2019s financial system is so small that we don\u2019t have the capacity, this is an adventure. Instead of letting us think about how to find a solution, they are giving us work and it\u2019s 3, 4 and 5 people who stir up the majority. I will not stop paying doctors as we calculated because of these people who are murmuring because it went from 100 to 200,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The head of state also declared that \u201cin the districts all doctors are working, because someone woke up in Maputo, who because he is connected to politics is confusing things. They even choose, we don\u2019t want to talk to this one we want to talk to so-and-so, why? You want to talk to so-and-so why? The person who can solve the problem you do not want!\u201d<\/p>\n

The collapsed National Health System, with a ratio of one doctor to 11,232 Mozambicans and one nurse to 1,754 Mozambicans, has a waiting list for consultations of at least two months, which rises to six months in cases where the patient needs a specialist,<\/p>\n

After having ignored the Statute of Doctors in Public Administration at the beginning of its term and in 2021 having unilaterally decided to review the rights of the class, the government will next year hire 741 foreign doctors, but only 158 nationals.<\/p>\n
