Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Islamist terrorists murdered and beheaded five young men over the past weekend in Montepuez district in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, reports Monday\u2019s issue of the independent newssheet \u201cMediafax\u201d.<\/p>\n

The murdered men were members of the peasant militia known as \u201cNaparamas\u201d. They were killed in the dense bush of the Nairoto area.<\/p>\n

Three weeks ago, on 23 November, similar murders took place in Nairoto. On that date, intense clashes were reported, during which another five Naparamas were killed and beheaded.<\/p>\n

The naparamas are a local militia fighting against the terrorists and in alliance with the government forces. A group with the same name fought on the government side against the apartheid-backed Renamo rebels in parts of Zambezia and Nampula provinces during the war of destabilization.<\/p>\n

The naparamas are volunteers who are defending their villages against the jihadists. They take a magic potion which they believe will make them invulnerable \u2013 a belief that has proved sadly misplaced.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Naparama group set off to hunt down terrorists in Nairoto, but when they no longer responded to their cell phones, other members of the joint anti-terrorist force set out into the bush to look for them.<\/p>\n

They found five bodies decapitated and dismembered. The bodies were already beginning to decay, and so they were buried on the spot, about 15 kilometres from Nairoto town.<\/p>\n
