Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Hidroele\u0301ctrica de Cahora Bassa (Cahora Bassa Electric \u2013 HCB), one of the largest independent energy producers in Africa, had, by the end of November this year, reached and exceeded by just over 11.5% its planned annual hydro-power production.<\/p>\n

By that date, HCB had reached a production figure of 14,300 GWh, against the 12,814 GWh forecast for up to the month in question.<\/p>\n

\u201cAssuming that conditions remain unchanged, namely water availability, energy production, conversion and transport equipment, as well as the performance of the company\u2019s human capital, we should, by 31 December, have produced 15,693 GWh [of energy]\u201d HCB CEO Boavida Muhambe said. This will represent an increase of around 4.7%.compared to 2021.<\/p>\n

On November 30, 2022, the reservoir\u2019s water level was 322.22 metres above average sea level, or 81.5% of its useful storage capacity, allowing the normal functioning of the enterprise, with prompt implementation of production centre plans and a management plan based on minimising the impact of floods in the Lower Zambezi.<\/p>\n
